My name is Victoria Pugliese and I am the designer behind Querida Hortensia.

In a world that moves too fast, my work is the reflection of a personal search for calm. My entire creative process is nurtured by finding beauty in simple things; those that go unnoticed and we take for granted, but which are marvelous.

Stamped Line

The patterns (stamps) of Querida Hortensia arise from an afternoon of calm where I enjoyed painting with watercolors, without pretensions or demands.

When I saw them all together, I fell in love with them. I digitized them, transferred them to screens (shablones), and that's where another adventure began: the printing process.

I work by hand and on a small scale, and I confess that it is very difficult for me to repeat processes (it bores me and I don't see the point). Therefore, my prints are often different from one another.

Once the fabrics are dry, I cut and sew them, choosing the dynamic of the print and the finishes so that each object has a unique identity.

Every piece is the result of this process: imperfect, authentic, and full of intention.

Intuitive Embroidery

Another technique, the same spirit.

Embroidery allows for a different approach. It takes me a little deeper; to let things be and allow whatever wants to express itself to emerge.

I detach myself a bit from the technique and the search for perfection. It is also the pursuit of letting go of control.

Materials

I work with inks, watercolor, threads, and fabrics. To this, another essential element is added: the action, the gesture with which I handle the elements.
